One of the UK’s leading providers of high speed travel has added extra services to its timetable from December 2025. This latest move means that Avanti has nearly doubled the number of trains on the West Coast Main Line since they took over the franchise in 2019.
The December timetable uplift means business travellers benefit from an additional 6 weekday services between London Euston and Liverpool Lime Street. In more good news for the city, Avanti is also adding a new stop at Liverpool South Parkway for easier connections to John Lennon Airport, plus a new stop at Hartford to improve connectivity to the Liverpool area.
And there’s more! Additional trains will run at weekends between London and Liverpool, with 11 extra services on Saturdays and 5 on Sundays. Together with the new weekday trains, Avanti’s new services represent an 18% uplift in services to and from Liverpool. Or to put it another way, that’s over an extra 10,000 seats every week. Avanti tells us they’re fully committed to running two trains an hour between London and Liverpool in the near future; this timetable boost is a major step towards that goal.
Free period care on Avanti trains
Customers travelling with Avanti West Coast can now access free period care products onboard their trains. The ‘Package for a Friend’ scheme enables customers to request period products from the onboard shop discreetly and conveniently, all without any charge whatsoever. Avanti West Coast worked with ethical and sustainable period care brand, TOTM, to stock environmentally friendly period care across its fleet of trains. Brightly coloured posters are displayed onboard to raise awareness of how people can access them.

Building a railway that works for everyone
In a move to make train travel more accessible, Avanti West Coast has added British Sign Language updates to information screens and help points at every station stop on the line.
Customers who are deaf or have hearing loss can now travel with greater confidence, knowing they can access real-time updates on their journeys. It’s one of many steps the company has taken to help everyone benefit from rail travel; others include Avanti’s Travel Companion service which provides real time instant support for disabled customers via WhatsApp. The company works closely with disabled people through a series of regional panels and online groups to find new ways of improving accessibility. Social Value Awards honour
Avanti West Coast has been recognised at the Social Value Awards 2025 for its contribution to society, the economy and environment, winning the Private Sector Leadership category at the prestigious event.
Judges praised the company’s work to promote social value across the organisation, hailing Avanti as a ‘true champion of social value’. By making social value central to the business, the company can find new ways to improve its impact on local communities and the environment, collaborating with like-minded businesses to make a positive difference to people’s lives.
The award builds on a solid record of achievement for the company who, from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, created £450 million of social value according to the Rail Social Value Tool which measures the impact of train companies’ activities. That’s a one-third increase on the previous year and means Avanti has now surpassed its goal of creating £3 billion in social value.
£2m Macclesfield station transformation
With the creation of a modern, spacious station entrance, an upgraded ticket office, new retail space, plus new toilets (including an accessible toilet), Avanti West Coast is turning Macclesfield station into a welcoming gateway to the town. Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology is also being installed to speed up the process of parking at the station, making end to end journeys easier. Due to be completed in spring 2026, the project is set to transform the station and with it, the customer experience.
