United Airlines offers up to 24 daily flights to the U.S. from London Heathrow, Edinburgh and Glasgow*, plus connections to more than 280 destinations across the Americas.
United operates up to 20 direct flights a day from London Heathrow to seven key U.S. cities: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark/New York, San Francisco and Washington D.C. Travellers based in Scotland can also benefit from year-round services from Edinburgh to New York/Newark and Washington D.C., seasonal flights to Chicago and service from Glasgow* to New York/Newark -helping make travel more connected, flexible and productive.
*Glasgow- seasonal service operates 9th May – 24th October 2026
Connect through United’s U.S. Hubs
United connects customers to more than 220 domestic and 145 international destinations (the most international destinations of any U.S. airline). United’s seven hubs are located at Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Denver (DEN), Houston Intercontinental (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), Newark/New York (EWR), San Francisco (SFO) and Washington Dulles (IAD).
Choose the cabin that suits your journey
United Economy and Economy Plus:
In United Economy℠, international travellers can enjoy complimentary beverages (including beer and wine), complimentary meal service and inflight entertainment. With Economy Plus℠ seating, adding up to 6 inches (15cm) of extra legroom, with seats located near the front of the United Economy cabin.
United Premium Plus:
For those seeking extra comfort, Premium Plus℠ offers more space and amenities than standard economy to make travel more relaxing. Seats are closer to the front of the plane and include footrests as well as extra room to recline.
United Polaris Business class:
United Polaris℠ business class service aims to bring a new level of quality to premium cabin travel, from lounge to landing. United Polaris lounges℠ are available exclusively to international premium cabin travellers at select airports and offer premium dining options, a relaxation area and showers.
Departures from London Heathrow feature 6ft 6in lie-flat, all aisle access United Polaris℠ business class seats, kitted with Saks Fifth Avenue luxury bedding and an amenity kit which includes skincare.
Enjoy a Saks Fifth Avenue sleep set with a Saks Day blanket, complete with a duvet and a cooling gel pillow, for your rest and relaxation.
You’ll get a main entrée of your choosing from the inflight dining menu, mid-flight snacks, and a second dining service. All drinks, including beer, wine and liquor are complimentary.

United Polaris Lounges℠ are designed for international business class travellers and created with comfort in mind. These lounges offer premium amenities such as spa-like showers and a private rest area with daybeds so customers can prepare for long flights.
If you’ve got some extra time at the airport before your next flight, enjoying one of United’s ClubSM locations is a great way to spend it. United MileagePlus gives you the most ways to earn and use miles among other U.S. global airlines, including on Star Alliance partner flights, and your miles never expire.

The new, gate-to-gate connectivity will unlock game-changing experiences in the sky which will provide free access to live TV and streaming services, social media, shopping, gaming and more, on seatback screens and personal devices simultaneously. United Wi-Fi℠ currently allows you to opt in to our free inflight text messaging service**.

**United Wi-Fi℠ features a portal that offers flight information, destination weather reports and free access to united.com, and the ability to purchase internet access on select flights. If you purchase internet access, you can check email, use previously downloaded apps or browse the internet. United Wi-Fi pricing will vary. Customers can also activate free messaging plan on all Wi-Fi equipped aircraft (Except select 757s, 767s and 787s. SMS messages cannot be sent or received because they can only be sent over a cellular network). The plan allows you to send and receive text messages over Wi-Fi (such as iMessage, WhatsApp, etc).
