Clarity expands internal auditor team to strengthen ISO standards compliance

Read how internal auditing helps keep quality, sustainability, security and continuous improvement at the heart of everything we do with Julie Evans, Standards & Assurance Manager, Qualified Lead Auditor.

At Clarity, we pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards across departments. One of the ways we achieve this is through our dedicated internal auditing team, led by Julie Evans, Standards and Assurance Manager and Qualified Lead Auditor. This team plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with ISO requirements and driving continuous improvement throughout the business.

Unlike many organisations, we are privileged to have our own internal auditor team. Some of our auditors balance this responsibility alongside their primary roles within the company, showcasing their commitment to excellence.

In 2024, we began expanding the team by inviting colleagues interested in internal auditing to join. These individuals embarked on a comprehensive training journey, including group sessions, one-to-one coaching, and shadowing audits to gain a deep understanding of ISO 9001 – Quality Management Standard.

The development continued in October 2025, when all seven new auditors attended an intensive two-day CQI IRCA training course. The course, delivered by Isoqar, featured interactive sessions and role plays, with successful completion dependent on active participation. We’re proud to announce that all seven passed, bringing our total number of trained internal auditors to 12.

Audits are planned quarterly across the business, carefully scheduled to accommodate workloads and responsibilities. Internal auditing is not just a compliance requirement, it’s a cornerstone of our commitment to quality. It ensures we follow correct processes, identify improvements and mitigate risks. These audits also prepare us for our annual external audit by Isoqar, our certification body.

“Due to commitments, I could not join the training session in person and joined remotely, but with the trainer and my fellow internal audit team I felt included and involved in what was a comprehensive 2 days of learning.  I’ve always had an interest in internal auditing and previously did some basic auditing way back in my leisure travel days.  Its great to be able to look at processes that are robust and work perfectly, but its always good for a fresh pair of eyes to review if a process is working or highlight any recommendations along the way.”-   Neil Wainwright, Head of Learning & Development

Findings from internal audits feed into our company improvement log, where actions are tracked and effectiveness reviewed. This process supports our ISO certifications, which are essential for customer requirements and play a key role in new bids and client questionnaires.

We audit against our certified standards, including:

·       ISO 9001 – Quality

·       ISO 20121 – Sustainable Events

·       ISO 14001 – Environmental Management

·       ISO 22301 – Business Continuity

·       ISO 50001 – Energy Management

·       ISO 27001 – Information Security

·       ISO 27701 – Privacy Information Management

By investing in our internal auditing capability, we continue to uphold the highest standards for our clients and partners, ensuring quality, sustainability and security remain at the heart of everything we do.
