AccorHotels has opened its first Novotel hotel in the popular business district of Canary Wharf after a £90 million investment.

The new flagship hotel is now one of the tallest buildings in the area at 127 metres high and offers panoramic views of the city, including The Shard and Greenwich Park. Located in the thriving commercial district, the hotel is easily accessible, surrounded by bars and restaurants and is just a 10 minute walk from Canary Wharf tube station.

Guests can also enjoy impressive on-site facilities at the hotel including a gym, swimming pool with sauna and a rooftop terrace, perfect for relaxing after a tough day in the office.

The hotel offers 313 rooms, including 26 individually designed suites for those after a more luxurious stay. For those wanting to plan business meetings in the area, the hotel has fantastic on-site facilities with nine meeting rooms, with the staff on hand to ensure your meetings run smoothly.

This hotel is the first of the group’s UK portfolio to contain a vegetable garden, in line with AccorHotels’ PLANET21 plan to support urban agriculture by planting 1,000 vegetable gardens in its hotels by 2020. Other eco-friendly initiatives include a combined Heat Power System, which the company says will contribute to a 30 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions, a light regulation system which adjusts the level of light according to the time of day and season and beehives on the 39th floor where honey will be produced for hotel guests.

Thomas Dubaere, managing director of Accorhotels UK and Ireland, said: “Canary Wharf will be the iconic Novotel for Accorhotels UK and Ireland and aims to become the place to be in the Canary Wharf business area.

“Joining a network of 33 Novotel in the UK, this unique hotel is a shining example of our ambition to create innovative, guest-focused, sustainable accommodation that caters for the changing requirements of the modern-day guest as well as providing first-rate services for the local population.”
